Beatles or Rolling Stones? The Beatles.
Biggie or Tupac? Notorious.
Vanessa Carlton or Michelle Branch?

Michelle Jacquet DeSevren Branch won my heart in 2004. Her guitar, her voice, and those soulful eyes that could tell a story in a stare. This was the same year Vanessa Carlton put the single "White Houses" (fantastic fucking song) in my ears. But at this time in my life, I was out of college and looking for a deeper meaning, and connected with Michelle on an existential level beyond singer/songwriter and fan. She was the one that had me question if I was happy now. The one that told me to breathe. She understood me, strike that, SHE UNDERSTANDS ME.

I am a regular dude. I like sports, cars, music, gadgets, liquor, and in the early 2000's, I was the key demographic for Maxim magazine. I can tell you affirmatively, zero interest.

Except for one issue: January 2004.

This totally wasn't about objectifying a talented woman into a scantily clad cover girl, I just wanted to read more about her. These were the days where Wikipedia was just a shit-show, so I am actually being sincere. Seriously, for the article. Only Maxim I have ever owned. Only Maxim I have ever read.

Anyways, I am so happy she is back after a 14-year solo hiatus. Her new album, Hopeless Romantic is absolutely delightful. Better yet, Michelle is partnering with our friends at Spotify for her tour.
