Fact. Wu-Tang is for the children. This was confirmed by my High School english teacher/flags coach, who gave our Wu-Tang inspired project an A.
We were reading Lord of the Flies, and the end-of-book project was to make a map of the island.
This triggers another memory, do you remember the movie based on the book? SPOILER ALERT. Remember that part where Piggy is standing on the cliff, preaching to the other boys about how they should listen to Ralph...and then they rolled a boulder right on top of his head? Classic Pigglesworth.
Anyways, back to the project. My friend Joey and I, being super fans of the RZA, the GZA, the Ol' Dirty Bizza...decided to make our island in the shape of the Wu-Tang "W". Now this wasn't an art project, but we drew an amazing Wu Staten Island. Mapped out on this thing were all key places from the book, Ghostface Jungle, Inspektah Bay, and Shaolin Sharpen-a-stick-at-both-ends. I am sure that Joey has gone on to do amazing things since then. But to me, this was my Un dimanche après-midi à l'Île de la Grande Jatte, this was my Triumph, and I have been a professional creative for 15 years. Peaked too early man.
IMHO, deserved an A+.
